Welcome to Owning Your Alpha

Most investors have been sold a comfortable lie: that "investing" means picking a fund, paying an annual management fee, and hoping the market goes up over the next thirty years. But for those of us who demand more than "average," there is Alpha.

What is Alpha?

In finance, Alpha is the holy grail. It is the measure of performance above and beyond a benchmark index (like the S&P 500). If the market returns 10% and your portfolio returns 10%, you have zero Alpha—you are simply riding the market's coattails. If you return 15%, that extra 5% is your Alpha. It is the return generated by strategy, precision, and active management rather than passive luck.

The Index Fund Trap

For decades, the financial industry has funneled retail capital into passive index funds and managed portfolios. While "buy and hold" is a safe harbor for the masses, it comes with a hidden tax: the fee structure.

Many investors pay 1% or more in management fees annually, regardless of performance. If your fund manager underperforms the S&P 500, you are essentially paying a premium to lose money. Even when they match the market, their fees erode your compounding power over time. When you outsource your capital, you outsource your control—and you rarely get the Alpha you’re paying for. Ask yourself the hard questions: What’s your Broker’s Alpha contribution? What’s your own Alpha contribution? Did they really make a difference? Are they worth it? Just remember, you would have received the Index’s rate of return for free if you bought it on your own.

Owning Your Alpha

I started Owning Your Alpha because I believe that if you want market-beating returns, you have to manufacture them yourself. I don’t wait for the market to give me returns; I use the mechanics of 0DTE (Zero Days to Expiration) SPX options to extract value from the market’s daily volatility.

By acting as the "house"—selling premium rather than gambling on direction—I have replaced passive hope with active, mechanical execution.

My Philosophy is Simple:

  • Transparency: I trade with real capital. You’ll see my verified dashboards, my wins, my losses, and the logic behind every position.

  • Accountability: You shouldn't pay a fee for mediocre results. You should build a system that works for you.

  • Control: True Alpha isn't found in a brochure; it’s found in a disciplined strategy that exploits the passage of time and the statistical probabilities of the S&P 500.

This blog is a map of how I trade, manage risk, and maintain an edge in an environment designed to take it from you. You don’t need a Wall Street firm to manage your wealth—you just need a process.
